Ethiopian Federal Police receives sniffer dogs (K9) from the Israeli Police to assist in its work

Sandafa, Tir 21, 2018 E.C (EFPM): The Ethiopian Federal Police have received sniffer dogs (K9) from the Israeli Police in support of its work in controlling dangerous drugs.

Deputy Commissioner General Melaku Fanta, Commander of the Crime Prevention Directorate of the Ethiopian Federal Police, stated that the K9 dogs received as support will help to better prevent dangerous drugs from entering and leaving the country through Bole International Airport more effectively.

He added that Ethiopian Federal Police specialists from the Anti-Explosives and Dangerous Drug Control Department are currently undergoing training in Tel Aviv, Israel, to work with these K9 dogs. Once the dogs are trained and arrive in Ethiopia, they will provide services for the 39th African Union Summit.

The Deputy Commissioner General further mentioned that the Ethiopian Federal Police is engaged in various activities in collaboration with the Israeli Police to prevent and control the trafficking of dangerous drugs.

He emphasized that once the K9 units begin their work in Ethiopia, they will upgrade the services the Ethiopian Federal Police are providing at Bole International Airport.
